Alarman was founded on 1 April 1992 by Jan Potgieter as a sole proprietorship and became Alarman Security Systems cc in 2002
Jan Potgieter, the owner, is responsible for overall business management. Jan is strong on a wide range of product know-how and technology.
Gerda Potgieter (his wife) is strong on human relations and administration. She is responsible for the office administration including finances and client liaison.
Jan had a successful career in development, production and quality control of Missile systems before becoming owner of Alarman. He was a production project manager at Kentron and a plant improvement designer for Iscor before that. He holds a Diploma in Electricity from the Pretoria Technicon. With numerous other courses on quality improvement and project management.
Jan is responsible for your security system design and development, integration and finally inspects all installations.
Jan attended almost every seminar/course & lecture on Electric fencing, Surge Protection & alarm systems, since 1992. He is known to be a market leader in these fields. His competitors seek advice from him on a regular basis. Jan also lectured on the Paradox Security systems while he was involved in retailing security products.
